Prediction: The metaphor completely dies out from the English Language in 2031, as it becomes impossible to find a single human who doesn’t compulsively use the word “like” in every sentence they utter.
A chap on the bus just now was singing “Tell Me Lies” by Fleetwood Mac to himself. Quite why he bothered, given how many of the words he appeared to know, is anyone’s guess. Come to think of it, most of the notes were fairly far off too.
How I was able to tell what it was basically remains a mystery.
But my word, he was giving it plenty.
